- Linzer Augen aka Linzer Cookies, or Linzer Eyes, is a cookie named after the city of Linz, Austria. Two cookies are sandwiched together with a layer of flavored preserves of jam, traditionally black currant. The top cookie is dusted with powdered sugar and has a cutout so the preserves are visible, creating "eyes." [1]
