Skystone 101: Haze: When the Skystone exploded, waves of Haze enveloped the land. Haze is given off by invasive fungi that have quickly covered the land. Haze is poisonous to all native creatures, including humans. However, Mimics thrive in the Haze.

Skystone 101: Mimics: Mimics appeared shortly after the Skystone explosion. They seem to take the form of one or more native animals. They are aggressive, smart, and linger in areas that were once covered in Haze. Upon death, they internally combust.

Relationship with Fungus[]

The invasive fungi that produce the Haze also produce Spores as a means of reproducing. Most Mimics spread the fungi by collecting Spores, and they usually leave behind Spores after they die. One exception is the Molecreep, which carries fully-grown fungus around along with Spores. Although Spores are found inside Mimics' stomachs, they do not appear to digest them.

Sprocket Info[]

Skystone 101: Spores: Spores are found inside the stomachs of Mimics. They are usually left after a Mimic dies off. They are used in Nidaria as currency which reflects your work on the ground. You can use them to buy goods at the town's shops.

Enraged Mimics[]

Enraged Mimics are variations of Mimics that have stronger attacks, more Health and more speed compared to their normal variations. They are shaded red. They only appear for certain Quests given by Admiral Stanton.

Boss Mimics[]

These are the Mimics whose Sprockets are in the "Boss Mimics" Sprocket category.

Aeromimic[]

Aeromimic transparent

Aeromimics (also referred to as Mimic Aeronauts) are humanoid Mimics that resemble Aeronauts. They attack by shooting Haze at the player.

Aeromimics appear in Steamport City, Hatchwood Wilds and Ridgeback Highlands only during Mission 3: Abandoned Factory, Steamport City Barometrics (OT0001), Shocksprite Eggs (BX0004), Major Mimic Invasion! (AS0035) and Guardians in the Canyon (AS1001).

Sprocket Info[]

The Aeromimic has a human appearance with equipment similar to an Aeronaut. However, the blaster cuffs and Haze pack do not appear to be mechanical in nature. The Aeromimic attacks with ranged shots of thick Haze.

Ferromimic[]

Ferromimics are humanoid Mimics that resemble Ferrics. The attack by striking the player with the blades grafted to their arms.

Ferromimics appear in Hatchwood Wilds and Ridgeback Highlands only during Mission 14: Camp Intruder, Guardians in the Canyon (AS1001) and Forest Supply Drop (CH0001).

Sprocket Info[]

The Ferromimic is a rare humanoid type Mimic. Its arms seem to have unnaturally grafted blades that it uses to attack. The Ferromimic can quickly scale walls and bound over obstacles to get to its prey.

Mimicrag[]

Mimicrags are humanoid Mimics that resemble Crags. They attack by swinging their tentacles at the player.

Mimicrags appear in Ridgeback Highlands only during Mission 25: Rescue Cody and Mimicrag's Revenge (SV0002).

Sprocket Info[]

The Mimicrag is fearsome humanoid Mimic. Its arms are slithering, barbed, tentacles that allow it to quickly swing long distances. It also uses these tentacles to swiftly ensnare its prey. They seem to prefer dimly lit locations.

Golembomber[]

Golembombers are large Mimics that are covered in stone. They can be killed in one hit to the Haze pouch on their back, but attacks that land elsewhere will cause the Golembomber to explode and make the player lose all of their remaining Health.

They appear in Steamport City, Hatchwood Wilds and Ridgeback Highlands only during OT0008.

Sprocket Info[]

Golembombers are armored, humanoid Mimics that arrive in massive raids. If an intruder gets too close, it will self-destruct, decimating the entire area. Its only weak point is the Haze pouch on its back.

Riverfang[]

Riverfangs are large Mimics that resemble spiders. They attack by shooting webs at the player, dripping venom from their fangs, biting the player and spawning Riverspawn that attack the player. One guards the Boss Fungus in Ridgeback Highlands that contains the 3rd Skystone Remnant.

Riverfangs appear in Ridgeback Highlands only during Mission 30: River Remnant and Riverfang Returns (CO0001).

The Riverfang is a giant arachnid Guardian Mimic. It scurries across ceilings as it lunges at prey with its venomous fangs. The Riverfang can ensnare victims by spitting webbing. It can also summon small mimics called Riverspawns.

Summit Whelk[]

Summit Whelks are large Mimics that resemble slugs. They attack by dropping boulders onto the player and spraying Haze at players. They can only be hurt when their slug-like bodies are exposed.

Summit Whelks appear in Ridgeback Highlands only during Beast at the Peak (BG0002).

The Whelk Mimic comes in various forms depending on the area it inhabits. Its massive shell is a natural fortress with 3 stone cannon and one massive boulder cannon. This protects its relatively weak, slug-like body.

Mimics of Hatchwood Wilds[]

These are the Mimics whose Sprockets are in the "Mimics of Hatchwood Wilds" Sprocket category. They do not exclusively appear in Hatchwood Wilds.

Firegrub[]

Firegrubs are Mimics with round bodies covered in flames. According to Cypress, they protect their internal organs from their flames with a flame-retardant jelly they secrete from their shells. Their heads are smaller and have a tougher skin that those of Blowgrubs. They fly around and bounce off the walls. Coming into contact with one will leave the player Burned.

They appear in Hatchwood Wilds during Mission MD0202 and Quests CY0004, CY0030, AS0017, and AS0075. There are Enraged Firegrubs that only appear during Quest AS0075.

Snapshell[]

Snapshells are Mimics with shells that resembles a tortoise shell and claws like crab pincers. According to Cypress, their shells are similar to the shells of Sporeshells. They cling to ceilings and strike at players with their claws. They can retract into their shells to avoid attacks.

They appear in Hatchwood Wilds and Ridgeback Highlands during Quests CY0006, AS0026 and AS0090. There are Enraged Snapshells that only appear during Quest AS0026.

It is a compact relative of the Crawback. It crawls along ceilings snapping at prey with its giant pincers.

Hellhopper[]

Hellhoppers are Mimics with large bodies and four legs that hop around. They attack by jumping at the player, which leaves the player Burned.

They appear in Hatchwood Wilds during Quests LD0003, CJ0001, CY0009, AS0020 and AS0082.

Bulkskins are Mimics with yellow fur. They are closely related to Stiltskins. Their fur is thicker and more coarse than Stiltskin fur. They attack players by ramming at them. When they see a player, they will charge at them.

They appear in Steamport City and Hatchwood Wilds during Mission MD0106 and Quests HT0002, LW0006, CY0001, AS0016 and AS0085. There are Enraged Bulkskins that only appear during Quest AS0085.

Hexaboars lurk deeper in the forest, waiting for someone to cross its path before charging at full speed. While looking mostly like a mammal, it has six legs like an insect, which gives it an extra boost of speed. It’s best to jump out of the way before they overtake you, and wait for it to ram its head into a wall before attacking.

Dewdrop[]

Dewdrops are Mimics that hang from ceilings. They attack players by dropping spores that grow into Dewdrop Fungi directly on them. There are Enraged Dewdrops that only appear during Quest AS0074.

They appear in Steamport City, Hatchwood Wilds and Ridgeback Highlands in Quests MX0004, AS0013, AS0074 and CY0029.

Dewdrop Fungi are small mushrooms with spiked stems that sprout from the spores that a Dewdrop drops. Only running into the head will harm players.

Blowgrub[]

Blowgrubs are large Mimics with round bodies. Their heads are larger and have a more delicate skin that those of Firegrubs. They do not attack the player, but they will often block the player's path (running into them will cause the player to lose Health).

They appear in Hatchwood Wilds and Ridgeback Highlands during Quests HT0003, CY0030, AS0015 and AS0038. There are Enraged Blowgrubs that only appear during Quest AS0038.

Development Blog Info[]

Blowgrubs are curious Mimics that float towards you, wanting to see what you look like up close. This breed of grub doesn’t attack you, though they do get in your way. Attacking Blowgrubs sends them floating backwards for a moment, before pursuing you again.

Wallworms are Mimics that resemble green caterpillars. According to Cypress, their prolegs have multiple hooked spikes on the ends that function much like a caterpillar's prolegs. They attack the player by spraying Haze at them.

Wallworms appear in Hatchwood Wilds and Ridgeback Highlands during Quests LW0003, CY0039, AS0030 and AS0088. There are Enraged Wallworms that only appear during Quest AS0088.

Hivehats are Mimics that use a Pidgebee Hive as protection. According to Cypress, Rockbugs (and Hivehats by extension) are closely related to Stiltskins. They hang from ceilings until knocked down and send out swarms of Pidgebees to attack the player. When they are knocked down to the ground, they attack by running at the player.

They appear in Hatchwood Wilds and Ridgeback Highlands during Quests CMG0001, CY0055, AS0021 and AS0089. There are Enraged Hivehats that only appear during Quest AS0089.

Boulder Bison are Mimics that resemble bison with armadillo shells. According to Cypress, their armor plates are hard and leathery. They attack by running at the player and rolling into a ball. While they are curled up, they are impervious to players' attacks.

Electrawogs are Mimics that resemble a cross between a frog and a jellyfish. According to Cypress, they do not generate electric charges in their legs but the growths on the sides of their legs conduct/hold electricity. They attack by jumping at the player, much like a Jellywog. When they hit the player, they leave the player Shocked.

They appear in Ridgeback Highlands during Quests AS0045 and CY0019.

Pale Steed[]

Pale Steeds are equine Mimics that walk on their two hind legs. According to Cypress, they have fungus-like growths in their nostrils that burst to release Haze when they exhale. They attack by spewing Haze at the player.

Black Recluse[]

Black Recluses are Mimics that resemble large spiders. According to Cypress, their claws have one single sharp claw that hooks around their webbing (instead of gripping it), unlike a native spider. They attack by shooting webbing at the player that leaves the player unable to jump. Touching the river or jumping in the webbing multiple times will free the player of the webbing.

They appear in Ridgeback Highlands in Mission MD0308, CY0024 and AS0039.

Cactigrub[]

Cactigrubs are large, round Mimics with spiky green bodies. They are normally stationary, but will chase the player once they see them or are attacked by the player. They attack by running into the player and pricking them with their spikes. Coming into contact with their Spikes leaves the player Jinxed.

They appear in Ridgeback Highlands during Quests AS0042 and CY0025.

Bruinscales are large Mimics that resemble bears. They attack by swiping at the player, which leaves the player Sprained. They can jump from platform to platform, and they actively chase the player.

Pinwheels are Mimics with 8 tentacles. They attack by leaping into the air, unfurling their tentacles and spinning them around. They are stationary until a player approaches.

Clampbright[]

Clampbrights are Mimics with a shell that can open and close. They cannot hurt the player in any way. When they are hit, they close up their shells and emit light. When their shells are closed, they are impervious to attacks.

They appear in Ridgeback Highlands during Mission MD0304 and Quest BG0001, CY0034, AS0072 and AS0083. There are Enraged Clampbrights that only appear during Quest AS0083.

Stinkstrider[]

Stinkstriders are Mimics that resemble ostriches with skunk tails. According to Cypress, they have a gland near their shoulders that may be involved in producing the Haze they fan at players. They attack by running at players and wafting Haze at them.

Crescent Wolves (also referred to as Crescentwolves) are Mimics that resemble wolves with scorpion tails. According to Cypress, their stingers have venom glands but they do not use them. They attack by striking players with their tail.

This Mimic has a long insect-like tail with a sharp tip. It lunges at prey with a large arching swipe of its pointed tail.

Toy Recluse[]

Toy Recluses are Mimics that resemble spiders. They do not attack the player, but running into them will hurt the player. There are Enraged Toy Recluses that only appear during Quest AS0087.

They appear in Ridgeback Highlands during Quests CY0040, AS0063 and AS0087.

Stinger[]

Stingers are Mimics that resemble naked mole rats with wings. They fly back and forth in a horizontal line until it is attacked. Once it has been attacked, it will chase after the player and attack by striking them with its stinger.

They appear in Ridgeback Highlands during Mission MD0303 and Quests CY0047, AS0062 and AS1001.

Matterhorns are Mimics that resemble goats. They attack by ramming players with their horns. They actively chase the player once they see them, but will lose interest once the player moves away from them.

Most closely resembling a dog, these hairy beasts are covered with haze-filled tumors that hang from their skin. When a pustosser notices a human, they rip one of the tumors from their belly and hurl it towards their enemy.

These Mimic creatures resemble a cross between the pigeons and flies that once lived in Steamcity. When Rooks first encountered this breed, they gave them the nickname “pidgebombers” because of their aggressive use of haze-infused excrement that they dropped from the sky. When their wings are clipped, these creatures will drop to the ground and spew haze from both ends.
