Rock Garden Deluxe, or Rock Garden for short, is a puzzle game created by Flipline Studios. The game was announced on August 7, 2007 [1] and officially released in early 2008 as a paid game. It was made free on June 29, 2010.

Description[]

Arrange the stones in your backyard!

Play through over 100 levels in this stone-matching puzzler, each with its own unique layout, environment, and collectible stone.

Two game modes are available: the Classic Game and Random Mode offering endless play. Players can earn over 100 collectible stones in the Classic Game, which can appear in the Random games and in the custom Gardens that players create themselves.

Game Features[]

  • Slide stones to create matches
  • Over 100 lush puzzle environments
  • Collect over 100 collectible stones
  • Random Mode for endless gameplay
  • Create your own relaxing gardens

Gameplay[]

The player must slide stones around to get all stones that are the same color grouped together.

Starting from level 15 in the Classic Game, the player can unlock stones for their collection if they beat the high score on a level.

The player can create up to nine different rock gardens with stones from their collection.

Obstacles and Locked Stones[]

Rock Garden obstacle

Starting from level 7 in the Classic Game, wooden blocks that have arrows on them appear. They are referred to as obstacles. They come in various shapes and sizes. They do not need to be grouped with other stones of the same color.

Rock Garden Deluxe unmovable stone

Starting from level 68 in the Classic Game, some stones are tied down with posts and string and cannot be moved. These are referred to as locked stones.[2]

Trivia[]

  • This and The Expendables 8-Bit are the only Flipline Studios games that have not been referenced in the Papa Louie platformers, Gamerias, or spin-offs.
  • After creating Papa's Pizzeria, Matt said they wanted to "test the water" with downloadable games, hence the creation of Rock Garden Deluxe. However, it was not successful, so they returned to making web games.[3]
